Overview
The Faculty of Finance and Accounting is part of “ARTIFEX” University of Bucharest, which was accredited by Law no. 133 of 17 May 2005, published in the Official Gazette of Romania no. 436/24.05.2005.
In today’s information society and knowledge-based economy, the Faculty of Finance and Accounting educates economists with skills in finance and banking, accounting and management information systems in equal measure.
The faculty’s mission has clear, achievable objectives that comply with legal requirements and fit the profile of “ARTIFEX” University of Bucharest. We aim to provide a high-quality education in which graduates gain the knowledge needed to investigate, study and analyse economic phenomena and processes in Romania and abroad, developing their intellectual abilities, specialist knowledge and skills in finance and accounting.
We also develop research to spread a genuine economic and financial culture, the values of economic and political freedom and an entrepreneurial spirit, as foundations for economic and social progress. From its first year, the faculty has set out to give its students excellent professional, scientific and practical training so that they can meet the ever higher demands of the labour market.
Since the 2005–2006 academic year, under Law no. 288/2004 on the organisation of university studies (as amended) and Government Decision no. 916 of 11 August 2005, the faculty has followed the Bologna system: three years and 180 credits for bachelor’s degrees, and two years and 120 credits for master’s degrees. The faculty offers the following programmes:
Bachelor’s
- Finance and Banking — accredited
- Accounting and Management Information Systems — accredited
Master’s
- Financial, Banking and Insurance Management — accredited
- Management of the Financial-Accounting Information System — accredited
Fulfilling this mission involves specific objectives:
- Adopting Western standards of academic education to train professionals ready for European integration, economic globalisation and internationalisation
- Combining teaching with research to build a highly qualified academic staff
- Continuing curriculum reform in line with Western standards
- Developing partnerships with business, public institutions and professional bodies so that our programmes keep pace with the labour market
- Matching graduates’ knowledge and skills to employers’ needs through initial and lifelong learning
- Attracting students with clear potential (preparation, knowledge, intelligence, interest, talent, vocation)
- Using modern, technology-based ways of sharing knowledge alongside effective teaching methods – debate-style classes, real case studies with plenty of examples, guest lectures from experienced accountants and finance professionals – while offering graduates opportunities for further development
These objectives are achieved through the structure and content of our curricula, the quality and experience of our academic staff, our modern facilities and our specialist courses, which give future professionals a solid economic culture and help them enter working life.
Our graduates benefit in several ways:
- The knowledge and skills they acquire are key to their success at work
- They gain efficiency, coordination skills, initiative and control
- Although the law sometimes changes, what they learn is built on lasting methods, fully comparable with any leading European university, so they can succeed in any organisation in Romania or abroad
- Because their training is not narrowly specialised, they can adapt easily to a fast-changing labour market
To achieve these goals, the faculty relies on competent academic staff with extensive research and teaching experience in their fields, as shown by their publications and by the recognition of their professional and teaching expertise in the subjects they teach.
We look forward to welcoming you as our students and partners!
