"ARTIFEX" University was set up as part of the ARTIFEX National Technical, Scientific, Social and Cultural Foundation of the co-operative institutions under the Civil Decision no 347/1992 issued by the Court of Sector 1 of Bucharest and it was registered thereof. "ARTIFEX" is a non-profit legal person, founded by the National Association of the Co-operative Institutions as unique member in 1992. "ARTIFEX" University- the Academy of High Co-operative Studies was meant to ensure higher education to the management staff of the co-operative institutions. Starting with 1993/1994 academic year, the following specialties became operational: Management and Finance and Accounting, with full-time courses and evening courses, and starting with 1995, the Marketing and the Economics of Services specialty become operational too; these specialties were certified for temporary operation under the Governmental Decisions no 568/1995; 294/1997; 472/1997; 535/1999; 696/2000; 410/2002. Starting with the 2003-2004 academic year, in compliance with the Governmental Decision 1336/2001 regarding the fields and specialties in the higher education, and with the Governmental Decision 944/2002, other two specialties were certified: Finance and Banks, and Management and Marketing. The Governmental Decisions 693/2003 and 1082/2003 certified also other two specialties: Accounting and Bookkeeping Information Systems, and Economics of Commerce, Tourism and Services. In 2005, under the Law no 133, the Faculty of Finance and Accounting, with the bachelor study program Finance-Banks and the Faculty of Management-Marketing, with the bachelor study programmes Management and Marketing were accredited by the Romanian Parliament. In 2010, the bachelor study programmes Accounting and Management Information Systems and Economics of Commerce, Tourism and Services were accredited by ARACIS and the Romanian Parliament. The ARTIFEX University currently operates in compliance with the University Chart and its own Regulations.
Rector's Message
ARTIFEX University in Bucharest was set up and accredited under the Law no 133/2005 to be a higher education and research institution, with a clear structure, as an alternative version to the public higher education, and having as a main goal to train experts needed to manage and organize the economic and social activities.
The mission and the goal of ARTIFEX University imply public responsibility that meets the following requirements:
- the social needs and demands in this field of the national economy and in other sectors that are subject to the training system designed;
- the competences of the institution and its response to the social demand;
- the responsibility towards the economic sector requesting the training that needs and employs the experts we train;
- the public responsibility towards the trust of those who request the higher education within the system we provide.
ARTIFEX University promotes the values of national and universal science and culture and of the economic sciences in particular. Starting from its competences and responsibility towards the Romanian society, ARTIFEX University undertakes the following tasks:
- to train and to refresh highly qualified human resources, experts with higher education for the economic and social sectors of activity, especially for the co-operative system;
- to ensure refreshment studies for experts through master and post-graduate degree programs;
- to promote free, critical thinking, open to new knowledge;
- to develop scientific research, in cooperation with similar Romanian and international institutions;
- to give the students the chance of high quality education, ensured through selection processes that allow testing their abilities and talent;
- to perform a dynamic higher education, meant to ensure and integrate, through educational plans and curricula, the latest significant global knowledge and cultural achievements;
- to promote interdisciplinary approaches in education;
- to ensure a formative educational system, meant to provide the graduates with the ability to develop and renew their specialized training and general knowledge background;
ARTIFEX University promotes partnership with other higher education institutions and national and international academic cooperation, including similar institutions affiliated to the International Co-operative Alliance. ARTIFEX University is a founder of the European Co-operative University within Socrates Project and takes part in the "Leonardo da_Vinci" European Project.
ARTIFEX University has the following faculties and specializations: Faculty of Finance and Accounting, with the bachelor study programmes Finance and Banks and Accounting and Management Information Systems, accredited; Faculty of Management - Marketing, with bachelor study programmes Management Marketing, and Economics of Commerce, Tourism and Services, accredited.
ARTIFEX University has currently over 3,000 students: enrolment has significantly increased in time, from 273 students enrolled in 1992, to over 3,000 in 2008. In 17 years, over 82,000 students graduated ARTIFEX University. In 2005, ARTIFEX University had its first B.Econ.Sc. degree exams following its accreditation and 98,8% of the graduates were granted their their B.Econ.Sc. degree; in 2006, over 93% , in 2007 - 99,22%, and in 2008, over 96%.
Starting with the 2008/2009 academic year, over 450 students take their courses for the following Master degrees: Finance, Banks and Capital Markets; Organizational Management, Strategic Marketing, Financial, Banking and Insurance Management, SME Management, Marketing and Business Communication.
To meet the requirements of the Bologna Statement, the Senate of the ARTIFEX University defined the paradigm of a Quality-based Development of its higher education focused on:
- enhanced training and quantitative expansion limited to the real ratio between social demand/social supply;
- distinct curricula avoiding narrow specializations, and promotion of modular and pluri-disciplinary specializations;
- curricula meant to fulfill the following goals of a modern and efficient higher education: general culture background, professional culture, specialization;
- real time connection between the educational process and research in order to promote cooperative ideas and principles;
- new criteria of actual and accurate assessment of resources and abilities, of the goals and the purposes of the educational and training process;
- high standards in the recruitment of human resources (teaching staff, students, administrative staff, research staff);
- a teaching staff of its own by stimulating the motivation of the staff to dedicate themselves to the academic and research career in the cooperative national educational system;
- actual, yearly, assessments of the curricula based on scientific criteria: adjustment of the number of students depending on the long-term, medium-term and short-term labour market demands;
- permanent adjustment of the social services ensured to the teaching staff and students;
- modern, flexible and autonomous academic management at all levels: university, faculties, social and administrative activities etc.;
- solvable funds for the academic activities, through diversification of the sources and financial autonomy of the faculties;
- expansion and modernization of the logistics and of the premises of the co-operative higher educational system: classrooms, hostels, cultural and sports facilities.
The implementation of this Program will ensure an enhanced educational process and scientific research, and higher performance university management, based on responsibility, transparency and efficiency in academic management.
